Cereals come and go but there are favorites that hang around forever. In a recent poll, the favorite O’s were Cheerios with their whole-grain rings of crunch with just one gram of sugar per serving. The best crispy rice was an Organic Crispy Brown Rice cereal with a pleasing nutty flavor. Topped with fruit, it makes the perfect light breakfast. In the category of shredded oats, the winner was Life cereal with a balanced salty and sweet taste in the thin oat squares.

The best of the raisin cereals was Cascadian Organic Raisin Bran. The raisins are not overrun by the amount of flakes and they also do not have a sugar coating on them. For best corn flakes, it was Trader Joes’ organic flakes. The corn flakes hold their shape, are large and offer a strong corn taste, even when doused in milk. In the frosted wheat category it was Three Sisters Sweet Wheat. These little bits have just a dusting of icing that sweetens the milk and the back is recloseable so not wasteful packaging. Kashi Go Lean is the best high-fiber cereal. Honey whole-grain puffs with bran twigs and mini soy graham crackers is just delicious. This is one of the healthiest of all the cereals with 13 grams of protein and 10 grams of fiber in just one serving.
